Obituary for Ronald W. Ploss
RONALD W. PLOSS, age 78, a US Air Force Veteran, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Loving husband to Judith (nee Underwood). Devoted father to Kristina Cobey and her husband, Thomas, Jr., and Amy Herbert and her husband, Edward. Beloved grandfather to Matthew, Emma, Melissa, Samantha and the late Thomas Cobey, III. Dear brother to Paulette Campbell (Jack) and the late Marion Bland (the late Donald) and Doris Street (the late Thomas).
Ron was born and raised in Philadelphia (Burholme) and was a graduate of Northeast High School. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force and spent his time in Labrador. During his free time in the service, he enjoyed working as a DJ. One of his favorite groups was Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. After his return, he worked for Sears Roebuck for over 30 years. Ron loved to bowl and was in several leagues in the area. Ron was an avid Phillies fan and a collector of Phillies memorabilia. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday, October 5, 2020, from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia PA 19116, immediately followed by his funeral mass at 11:00AM. A private interment with military honors will be held in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Christopher Church at the above address or Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111.
Attendees must wear a mask, practice social distancing, and refrain from physical contact.
