Obituary for Raymond V. Romsdahl

RAYMOND V. ROMSDAHL, age 73, retired US Army Vietnam Veteran, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021. Devoted husband to Lorraine (nee Oriente). Loving father to Raymond Romsdahl and his wife, Tammy; Sean Romsdahl; and the late Brian Romsdahl. Dear grandfather to Alyssa Romsdahl, Tricia Schanz, Brian Romsdahl, Eivand Romsdahl and Lydia Romsdahl. Cherished great grandfather to Brinn Schanz and Jack IV Schanz.

Ray is popularly known as the founding father of Short Stop Food Market as well as Somerton Pizza, now known as Neli's Deli and Momma Mia's respectively. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman. As a certified marine mechanic he enjoyed repairing and modifying outboard engines whether tinkering in his shop at home or working many years as a mechanic in the Philadelphia School District repairing two stroke engines. He loved celebrating holidays with family and friends but his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren down the shore. Ray was an extremely generous man who took great pleasure in helping anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to have met him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 10:30am until 12:00pm at Louis A. DiGiacomo Funeral Home Inc., 1055 Southampton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116, followed by services 12:00pm. Burial will be private. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home at the conclusion of the service.
