OTHA PAYNE, age 76, a US Air Force Veteran and retired IT systems manager at CIGNA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 23, 2019, with his loving wife by his side. Devoted husband to Kimberly (nee Schulz). Beloved brother to Patricia Dollisme, Aliene Berry (Ray) and the late Evangeline Smith and Dorothy Washington. Otha was predeceased by his loving parents Otha Payne and Lannie (nee Gray). He was the first African-American quarterback for the Mount Hope Mustangs and led them to the 1959 and 1960 championships. After high school, he joined the US Air Force and was honored to be part of the U-2 Spy Plane era. Friends who knew him best, knew he was a Street Rod enthusiast! Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at LOUIS A. DiGIACOMO, INC. FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Southampton Rd., Phila., immediately followed by services 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
