ONORINA DRAGONE-THOMPSON, beloved daughter, wife, mother, nonna and sister, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021, after a courageous battle with COVID-19.
Onorina came to the United States from Montella, Av, Italy with her husband Raffaele Dragone (deceased 1981) in 1966 at the age of 18, along with her mother and siblings. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family & friends, her courage, her fortitude, her generosity to everyone, her faith, her sharp intellect and her kind heart.
A seamstress by trade, Onorina, her mother and her sisters worked in the factories of Philadelphia in the 1960 and 70’s to help support their families in their new world. Together Onorina and Raffaele had 3 children, Salvatore, Ettore and Diana (deceased 1981), before his passing in 1981. She spent her life as a devoted mother and grandmother and leaves behind her beloved daughter-in-law Felicia Dragone, nee Serva, and her grandchildren Salvatore Dragone and Anthony Dragone. She was preceded in death by her father, Rocco Cavallo and her mother Iolanda Cavallo, nee DeSimone, her second husband John (Jack) Thompson and her long time companion Robert Frusco. She was the beloved sister to Vito Cavallo (Maria Rosa), Fernando Cavallo (Lidia), Irma Cavallo Inverso (Donato) and the late Maria Cavallo Volpe (Pasquale).
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 9:30 am until 11:00am at St, Jerome Church, 8100 Colfax St., Philadelphia, PA 19136, followed by a funeral mass 11:00am. Interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020.
