Obituary for Michael H. Orr Jr.
MICHAEL HUGH ORR JR., age 27, passed away suddenly on April 20, 2022. Devoted father to Leila Grace Orr and Jackson Hudimac. Beloved life partner to Kristy McAllister. Loving son to Michael H. Orr, Sr., and Kimberly Tomlinson. Dear grandson to Grace V. Orr and the late Edward W. Orr, and the late Robert and Wanda Tomlinson.
Michael’s journey started on August 4, 1994, in Cape May where he lived with his mother. He developed a love for fishing from his father and spent his summer riding his bike and fishing with friends from sunrise to sunset. He fell in love with gardening from a teacher at his school, starting his first garden with his mother. He later moved to Mayfair with his father and spent his teenage years in Northeast Philadelphia. Mike was a traveler, going wherever his heart took him. He was a Jack-of-all-trades and always had a hunger to learn more. He followed no rules or guidelines. When he had an idea or thought he pursued it with every fiber in his body. Mike worked for the Bricklayer’s Union Local No. 1, where he continued to work until his death. He was so proud of his career and the union he worked for. His daughter Leila was the light of his life; his love for her carried him each and every day. They loved cooking together and he loved teaching her. Michael was a survivor and persevered through every hardship. He spent his last three years with the love of his life, Kristy. He was a stepfather to Jackson and devoted every day to loving and caretaking for Leila, Jackson, and Kristy. His favorite thing to do was to be a partner and father and to take care of others. Mike’s time on earth came to an end on April 20, 2022 at his home in Devon, Pennsylvania in his garden, doing what he loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Louis A. DiGiacomo Funeral Home, Inc., 1055 Southampton Road, Philadelphia, PA, 19116, followed by Words of Remembrance Service 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
