Obituary for Maurice R "Marty" Lyons
MAURICE R. “MARTY” LYONS, age 85, a US Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021. Beloved husband to the late Ruth “Bootsy” Lyons (nee Nelson). Loving father to Carolyn Gormley (Steve) and Stephen Lyons. Beloved grandfather “Poppy” to Kristen Loftus (Matt), Erin Craven (John) and Steven Gormley JR. Cherished great-grandfather to Ava, Sean, Shane, John and Penelope. Preceded in death by brothers Bill, Jack, and Richard Lyons and sisters Anne Cassidy, Peggy Matteis, and MaryJane Palchick.
Marty was a former employee of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, The Rothman Institute, and 3B Orthopedics.
Known to many as ‘Poppy’ he will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday, September 20, 2021, from 9:30AM until 10:45AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116, immediately followed by his funeral mass 11:00AM. Interment is private.
