Obituary for Mary Ann Moore

MARY ANN MOORE (nee Obozian), age 67, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2021. Devoted wife of 38 years to Michael Moore. Loving mother to Nicholas Moore and his wife, Sarah, and Molly Moore and her partner, Matthew Werther. Beloved grandmother to Tucker Moore. Loving daughter to Margaret Obozian (nee Kezerian) and the late Mitchell Obozian. Dear sister to Margaret Gairo and her husband, Anthony, and Jack Obozian and his wife, Colleen. Loving aunt to Marissa, James and Ian.

Mary Ann was born in Philadelphia on March 24, 1954, the firstborn child of Mitchell and Margaret Obozian. She enjoyed a happy childhood in a loving family.

Mary Ann attended Lincoln High School and when the family moved to Somerton, she later graduated from George Washington High School. She graduated from West Chester University with a degree in secondary education and embarked upon a 45 year teaching career. She later earned a Masters degree in special education. She taught high school and later primary school. Upon becoming Director of the Boyle Tot program in Somerton, Mary Ann found she had a particular passion and gift for teaching very young children.

Mary Ann was happily married to her husband Michael for 38 years. They had two beautiful children, Nick and Molly, and her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to Tucker. Mary Ann celebrated every holiday and occasion in a big way with her signature homemade food, goodies, decorations and crafts. As soon as one event was complete, she would start planning the next.

In addition to her work at Boyle Tot, Mary Ann worked at the after-care program at St. Charles Borromeo School and was a private tutor for elementary school students. She loved to cook and loved her Phillies. She was devoted to caring for her husband and her mother.

Mary Ann was truly a force of nature. She was happiest when she was in constant motion. Her energy was boundless. She was whip-smart, funny and fun-loving. She will forever be remembered for her strength and her caring nature. She was always the first person there with help and support (and food!) when anyone was in need.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 9:30am until 10:45am at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia PA 19116, followed by her funeral mass 11:00am.
