FREDA R. MORTIMER (nee Smith), age 87, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020, at Holy Redeemer Hospice in Meadowbrook PA with her two loving sons and daughter-in-law by her side.
Freda was born on March 21, 1933, in Philadelphia to the late Raymond and Freda Raaf Smith. She graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia.
She was the devoted wife to the late John A. Mortimer who preceded her in death in 1988.
Freda worked for many years as a classroom aide for the Philadelphia School District for Special Education. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family at the Jersey Shore. She dedicated her life to raising her family and attending her grandchildren’s many events. She was a quiet, sweet, kind, and compassionate woman.
Freda is survived by her two sons, John Mortimer; Barry Mortimer and his wife, Sandy; She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Mortimer. Beloved grandmother to Jennifer, John, Stephanie, Brittany, Colleen, Timothy, Christine, Nicholas, and Meredith, also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dear sister to the late Dolores Dickson and her husband, the late Richard.
Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside services Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, Section 18, Bensalem PA 19020.
Attendees must wear a mask, practice social distancing, and refrain from physical contact.
