Obituary for Elizabeth A. Messa (Santomero)

Elizabeth (Betty) Messa was born July 20, 1933 in Germantown, PA. She passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020 at the age of 87 while residing in Sunrise of Abington.

Betty is survived by her three children Lynn Bove, her husband Dr. Richard Bove; Karen Desiato and her husband Caesar Desiato and Robert Messa. Beloved grandmother to Austin Pickens (Kaila), Caesar Desiato, Jr. and brother to the late Daniel Santomero.

Betty graduated from Little Flower High School where she excelled in scholastics and basketball. She was known as the “red hot athlete” of the basketball team and led Little Flower to the 1952 high school championship.

In Germantown she met her husband Robert A. Messa and married September 11, 1954. Betty was a devoted wife to Robert and to her children. She dedicated her life to raising her family and was in involved in the activities of her children growing up in Feasterville. Her grandchildren Austin and Caesar then became the focus of her life where she was their biggest cheerleader at every baseball, basketball and soccer game.

Her love of sports continued through her life where she became an avid golfer. She frequently played golf with her husband and friends at Torresdale Frankford Country Club where she became the Senior Champion in 2003. She enjoyed watching all sports and was a dedicated Eagles fan.

Betty was loved by family and friends for her kindness and compassion. A gentle soul who always saw the good in everyone. She will be remembered as a very caring individual.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 9:30AM until 10:30AM at Assumption BVM Church Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA 19053, immediately followed by her funeral mass 10:30AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Attendees must wear a mask, practice social distancing, and refrain from physical contact.
