Obituary for Charles D. "Chuck" McNally Jr.

CHARLES D. “Chuck” McNALLY, Jr., age 51, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University and US Army Veteran, passed away suddenly on September 7, 2020. Loving husband to MaryAnn (nee Woodruff). Devoted father to Grace E. McNally, Charlie J. McNally and Lucy V. McNally. Beloved brother to Teresa DiVergilis and her husband, Daniel; and Kevin McNally and his wife, Lauren. Cherished uncle to Ryan, Chad, and Tim. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles D. McNally, Sr. and Patricia A. McNally.

Chuck was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and was a graduate of LaSalle College High School, Class of 1987. He participated in the Army ROTC program at the University of Scranton and earned his BA/ MA History degree. Chuck had the God-given gift of a smile that lit up the entire room. He touched everyone he met with his charm and sense of humor. He was a true gentleman, a devoted father and avid sports fan, especially US Soccer. Whether Chuck was seeing Springsteen in Ireland, running with the bulls in Spain, or just sitting by a campfire down the shore at OVR, he was always about being with family and friends. He worked for Drexel University for 20 years where he guided thousands of students in their pursuit of higher education. Chuck truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends, holding his wife’s hand, and watching his kids enjoy the beach. He loved making memories. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. But most of all, Chuck enjoyed being with his family he loved so dearly, and who so dearly loved him.
