Obituary for Antonio Baccari

ANTONIO BACCARI, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband to Ida Baccari (nee Forgione). Loving father to Giovanni Baccari and his wife, Rita; Maria Assunta Chessario; and Franco Baccari and his wife, Beverly. Beloved grandfather to Antonio Joseph Baccari, Franco Baccari Jr., Vittoria Rosa Baccari, Samantha Marie Baccari, Christina Marie Baccari, Giovanna Maria Baccari, Joseph Antonio Chessario, Nicholas Alexander Chessario, and Christopher Michael Chessario. Dear brother to the late Giuseppe Baccari, Vincenza Ungaro, Maria Amodei, Rosa Picone and Filomena Coletta, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Antonio was born and raised in Solopaca, Italy. While there, he served in the Italian Army for 2 years. Looking for a better life, Antonio came to America July 26, 1963 carrying only a suitcase. He went back to Italy to marry the love of his life, Ida, on July 18, 1964. After a quick 16-day honeymoon, Antonio returned to America, unknowing that Ida was pregnant with their first-born child. For 17 months, many letters went back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean, including the most important one, sharing Ida’s good news. Ida traveled by ship, the Raffaele, to New York on December 14, 1965 where they were finally reunited as a family. They moved to North Philadelphia were their life together began. In 1976, and three children later, the Antonio moved his family to Warminster, Pennsylvania where they currently reside. It is very typical that you would find Antonio and his entire family jarring tomatoes in August, pressing grapes in September, or attending any of his 9 grandchildren’s activities throughout the year. Antonio was very proud that he was able to raise a beautiful family, start his own landscape business, make many new friends, purchase and own their own home all because of a dream, and a suitcase.
