Al was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 1, 1935 to the late Grace and Albert J. Faville, Sr. He graduated from Jones High School and attended Drexel University in Philadelphia. He served honorably in The United States Army and was stationed in Fort Jackson, S.C. and then in Germany and Italy. After his discharge, he was hired by the School District of Philadelphia where he worked for over 40 years. Among his many projects as a School Building Inspector and Supervisor he oversaw the removal of asbestos from older schools ensuring that the buildings were safe.
On June 23, 1962, Al married his honey, Georgine Rose. This year would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. They had a very happy life together. Along with their home in Somerton, they bought a wonderful house on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey. For almost 30 years, they spent every summer down the shore. They had many great times with family and friends walking the boardwalk, relaxing on the beach and enjoying great dinners and fun nights playing cards and enjoying their company and time together. Al was a long time member of the Sons of Italy and he and Georgine were active members of The St. Christopher 50+ Club.
Along with the shore, Al loved to travel and have adventures with his wife and family. Al was the architect of dozens of family vacations to destinations including Hilton Head Island, Disney World, Florida and the Caribbean. Every year there were new adventures ahead. Al and Georgine also travelled throughout Hawaii, South America, Europe and Asia with extra special trips to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Venezuala and the many months they spent in The Bahamas.
Everyone who knew Al loved him, he was a great guy. He knew everyone everywhere we went and people would be happy to see him. At the video store, they would save him newly released movies, at the bakery they set aside the special pastries and at the bank and everywhere else he would be waved up to the front of the line. He was an avid reader and interested in a wide range of topics, he was always learning and teaching. He followed all of the Philadelphia teams especially the Eagles and Flyers and enjoyed going to the Phillies Spring Training. He was always introducing his children and grandchildren to new experiences, including helping us with with school projects, baking pizzelles and pizzas and even changing flat tires. Al was always the first to adopt new technologies whether it be a VCR, computer, or cell phone. He was proud of being a husband and dad, and he loved being a Pop Pop! Brandon, Tyler, Nicolas, Sophia, and Adrianna brought him tremendous happiness and new adventures and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
